With the weather warming up and drying out it's time to
get started on some road work. The Road Fund topped out at about $15,800
and we've spend ~$4360 on grading, bar ditching and snow plowing over the
winter, leaving ~$11539. I'm in
the process of drafting a letter asking for another round of
contributions for the Road Fund, along with an update of what we've done (or
tried to do with the all the winter weather, snow,.....) and what we propose to
do with some estimated costs. While
there's a lot of road work to do we'll need to prioritize. I've met with
Tony Peterson on several occasions along with some Sec 31 folks and put together
the following list. Please provide your comments and input so we'll have a
consensus of the Road Committee to present in the
letter.
Priorities:
1. Re-grade the roads, try to re-establish road
crown for drainage and clean out the bar ditches for
drainage.
2. Fix/repair the Canyon Ridge and Ponderosa
intersection. This area took a beating over the winter and has temporary
repairs to the 'Grand Canyon' across Canyon Ridge (thanks to Don Broomhall and
Peter Pociask) but needs to be addressed. It's a common traveled
area that all property owners use so it will benefit all. Tony Peterson is
putting together the costs to build up the road to keep water on each side,
install a culvert across Ponderosa, west side, to collect Canyon Ridge and
Ponderosa drainage and have it drain along the west side of Canyon Ridge, north,
just past Knotty Pine, then install a culvert under Canyon Ridge to direct the
water along an easement to a wash. Don Broomhall and Peter Pociask have
volunteered to take care of the work on the east side after the culvert with bar
ditch,....
3. Repair the curve at Gilbert and Hooks
Way. Grading and winter run off have created a pooling area that doesn't
drain and creates an impassable mud bog.
4. Get Tony Peterson input on bringing in
materials in the most needed areas of the main roads; Canyon Ridge, Ponderosa,
Lone Mountain, High Ridge and Gilbert.
